Ultimately it is a comic book story, but it is done very well and worth a watch.īack to movies, I streamed Solo, A Star Wars Story. There is some slight slide to cheese, but the story and actors keep it from truly breaking down. When the story really breaks out, it just gets better with good story and actors. The early call backs to the old tv shows were great and filmed well. The sound was good, especially for a tv show but nothing that would be show and tell. The visuals are rather nice at the 4k stream and there are some things that really pop early on with the color vs black and white.
Overall the movie is better than I remember, even with the overwrought final battle.
There are some nice use of the dolby atmos here and there but this movie is just old enough to not take full advantage of it, especially with the score (see Black Widow discussion below). The final fight is just pandering to comicbook art and has poor flow and framing, plus it is poorly lit by choice to limit what they had to film. Visually the movie is very nice and the stream had no issues. Disney+ has an Imax Enhanced feature where some action scenes are in the full 4k while most others are in the letterbox format. Verizon has gifted me 6 months of Disney+, so I am giving it a try. I am continuing my 4k-dolby atmos home theater testing but with a new twist. Also Sonic The Hedgehog (2020)- The kids wanted to watch it and I went in not expecting much but ended up being genuinely entertained. And makes my stomach hurt from laughing whenever I put it on. Who the hell was the target audience? It has nothing to do with its source material. It's absolutely terrible and it's fantastic because of it. QotW: Super Mario Bros (1993) is a guilty pleasure of mine. That being said, minus points for making me wait for a sequel to get my Claudia Black fix. It wasn't anything special but I don't regret watching it. The over-the-top action scenes and QTE rythmed CGI paid decent enough homage. Mark Whalberg is Mark Whalberg in every role he plays and this is no different. I have only ever seen Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man so I'm not sure of his range but his Nathan Drake is just more Peter Parker/Spider-Man quips and physicality. Watching this, I found, it is better to pretend that it has nothing to do with the series of games, even though they have the same backstory and characters. I will note that I had to temper my expectations. I'll start by saying that I did enjoy it. I enjoyed the Uncharted games franchise and was hoping for an at least entertaining film adaptation but fully knew that video game movies rarely hit the mark. Uncharted (2022) AKA "Peter Parker and Marky Mark: International Treasure".
